Q: Why do you deem it one’s name to be the most important ingredient in one’s career?

A: Name is the single most important ingredient in one’s career. So your actions that consistently add or take away from your name become just as important. Whatever you want to do, whether that is being in the corporate world or the startup world, make sure that when you send in your visiting card, people recognise you and respect you because of who you are.

Have your reputation precede you.

Q: In today’s world of airbrushed photos and retakes, how does one maintain authenticity?

A: You can airbrush things or photoshop photos until it becomes worthy of uploading. However, the stark reality in life is that there are no retakes. Moreover, life is much more than images. So be in touch with who you are, be credible and don’t lose time. Time is the most perishable commodity you have; every hour that you lose is not going to be re-invented or recovered.

Remember this with authenticity: You can fool some people for some time, you fool all people for some time but you cannot fool all people all the time.

Q: A protip for all those ambitious entrepreneurs  scared to take the plunge and start their ventures

A: Always remember ‘A turtle does not make progress until he sticks his neck out.’

You need to take risks if you want to move ahead. You can remember the 4 Cs that will give you the boost you need to take the leap of faith, once your plan is in place.

Consistency: Donald Trump is one such person who lives up to this word well. He is consistently,  inconsistent. It is a trait unique to his brand. If you can be consistent in living up to expectations, people around you might have from you, you are already one step closer to actualising your ideation.

Credibility: If you come off as a person who doesn’t seem credible or honest, people will not take too much time before turning away from you. This can be detrimental when trying to approach partners, clients etc. Spend the time to nurture your skills of reliability and honesty.

Confidence: If you come across a person eating up his own words and struggling to communicate with you, you wouldn’t want to work with the individual. Confidence is a quality to cultivate if trying to deliver a positive indelible imprint on the minds of people.

Connected: If you aren’t as famous as others and you decide to become an isolationist and cut yourself off from society, nobody will remember you or your brand. Which goes without saying is damaging to your company. Cultivating connections is extremely important to undertake.

Q: Understanding the art of being yourself yet making sure it stands out because it is different

A: There is a fine line between being yourself and being different. Firstly, have the conviction to take an off-beaten path regardless of what is chosen by those around you. Whatever path you choose, have your heart completely sold on it. The harmony of your logical thinking with your heart would generally result in you to succeed.

Just going with the flow, without having a logic backing it, is likely to not work out.

Q: Perception makes or breaks a lot of one’s endeavours. Here are top tips if you want to nail your interview

A:

Be confident

Be authentic

Talk about your achievements

Don’t try to present something you are not.
